so if i wanted to put some buttons on the side of the logo, or on the logo, where should i put the content?

So it uses a fixed position right? Since as you said it is put on the homepage message.
Try to put them on overall_body. 

Or if you want to put it beside the logo, just find this on your overall_body, this is the class and variable for the logo:
